Our Programs

Work Day
Rebuilding Together, a 501(c) 3 organization, rebuilds lives and neighborhoods by making homes safe, warm, and dry for low-income senior citizens in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Through our Year-Round Emergency Repair / Home Modification Program and our annual "April Work Day" Program, we provide free home repairs, emergency home repairs and home modifications that foster safer mobility and independence, changing the lives of our elderly neighbors every day.

Every April since 1992, our "Work Day" event has taken place and volunteer teams have repaired over 1,100 homes of low-income seniors in our community. Volunteer teams from local businesses, churches, corporations, hospitals, etc. get together and make FREE home repairs to a home they have been assigned based on skill level. This year on April 12, 2008, Rebuilding Together teams repaired 39 homes in a single day with repairs such as: general cleaning, interior and exterior painting, laying new carpet, repairing kitchen cabinets and countertops, repairing floors, hanging new doors and windows, repairing siding, repairing roof leaks, installing grab bars in bathrooms, installing handrails on porches and many more needed repairs.

Year Round Program
The Year Round Program was established for repair needs that cannot wait until April. Individual skilled volunteers work year-round to make free repairs on homes of low-income seniors in Oklahoma City to make them more safe, secure, and weatherproof. The most common repairs made year-round are emergency plumbing or electrical repairs, grab bar installation in bathrooms, along with hand-held shower heads, shower seats, and raised toilet seats, handrails on porches and stairways, and wheelchair ramps.
